This morning, when I discovered the Malibu Broad Beach home of antique collector, Richard Shapiro, the only words that I could think of to describe it's grace were 'architectural poetry'. I crave dwellings that embrace the natural surroundings and interiors flooded with natural sunlight. The large steel windows showcase intoxicating oceans views.
The simple open floor plan and rich finishes are exquisite. The home is beautifully furnished with a curated and edited selection of antiquities, an interesting mix, and punctuated with just a hint of good modern design like the curvaceous steel balustrade on the home's inspiring stairway.

Happy Monday!
"I planned the interiors to look old, too. I’ve always been attracted to antiquity and want to live in another time. This house is a folly designed to look like an ancient building I could have found hidden beneath the undergrowth for centuries on this remote bluff.”
Richard Shapiro
Who would ever believe that this lovely, cozy study with it's rich patina was conceived and built in recent years? It's perfection!
