High Point Furniture Market: Fall 2010

The High Point Furniture Market is next week and the weather could not be more gorgeous. I hope that many of you are planning to make the trip to North Carolina as I can guarantee that you will come away inspired. To capture your attention, I thought I would share some of the pictures I took at the Spring High Point Market. To discover what is truly hot in design start your journey at InterHall at IHFC.

Here are a few of my favorite stops:

Natural Curiosities recently acquired the beautiful textile archives of French engraver, painter, and textile artist Paule Marrot {above}. I fell in love with just about everything in this corner showroom including a series of framed sea life {orange starfish or sea urchins or white sand dollars} artfully arranged on linen. Visit their website to learn more about founder Christopher Wilcox and his philosophy around art.

When you leave IHFC be sure to take a quick walk up Wreen to the Oly Studio showroom, 106 North Wrenn Street.

You haven't truly experienced the High Point Market without a visit to the Parson's Table at the First United Methodist Church located at 512 North Main Street. The Parson's Table serves homemade sandwiches on freshly baked breads, soups and desserts all made from scratch by members of the church. Several years back they published a cookbook as the recipes for these simple specialities are in high demand. Be sure to try the homemade chicken salad sandwich on sourdough and a cup of their signature chili. The entrance is down a set of stairs on the interior side of the building.

An absolute must-see when visiting the High Point Furniture Market is BoBo Intriguing Objects. The warehouse located at 300 West Broad Avenue near Market Square is intriguing to say the least. In addition to their reorderable items, they have an amazing selection of one-of-a-kind antiques and 'objects'. Get there early! When I was there this Spring, the store was plastered with 'sold' stickers baring the names of many famous interior designers and notable shops from all over the country. The creative merchandising and unique florals are enchanting and bring inspiration at every turn.
